2018 College Football National Title Odds

Updated College Football National Title Odds & Picks

College Football Conference Championships kick-off this week and that means it’s time to revisit odds for National Championship contenders. There are 3 favorites currently listed at 4 to 1: Oklahoma, Clemson, and Alabama everyone else is just trying to catch up.

Odds are up to date as of Sunday.

Updated College Football National Title Odds & Picks

  • Oklahoma 4/1
  • Clemson 4/1
  • Alabama 4/1
  • Auburn 9/2
  • Ohio St 7/1
  • Georgia 7/1
  • Wisconsin 10/1
  • Miami FL 15/1
  • TCU 80/1
  • USC 80/1
  • Centra Florida 300/1

The Odds-On Favorite Pick To Win The College Football National Title: Oklahoma, Clemson, Alabama 4/1

Clemson is ranked first on the AP Poll. Clemson should also be at the top of the College Football Rankings this week. Oklahoma should be ranked second. Alabama should be ranked fifth.
You’d think that Alabama ranked fifth should garner higher odds than 4 to 1.

I don’t believe that’s the case. In fact, from the teams listed, I think Alabama has the best shot of winning the National Championship. The reason is because Oklahoma has a tough game versus TCU while Clemson has a tough matchup against Miami. Both of those teams could lose this Saturday.

In any case, taking short odds on Oklahoma, Clemson, or Alabama doesn’t make sense. The team that should march into the CFP with the most momentum is my smart pick, the Auburn Tigers.

The Smart Pick To Win The College Football Title: Auburn 9/2

Auburn’s on a roll. There’s a chance that the Tigers beat the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship and still lose out from a spot in the CFP. I doubt that happens because Auburn just beat Alabama 26 to 14.

Auburn just beat the best team in the nation: Alabama after closing as a home dog. Auburn has 2 losses this season. However, the Tigers dominated Georgia 40 to 17 when Georgia was first on the CFP Rankings. They also beat Alabama when Alabama was ranked first on the CFP rankings.

Unless Georgia upsets Auburn in the SEC Championship, the Auburn Tigers should march into the CFP. At 9 to 2 odds, they look like a great bet to win the National Championship.

The Longshot Pick: Wisconsin 10/1

Wisconsin has a shot of being the only undefeated team going into the CFP.  The odds are awfully nice on the Badgers to simply beat Ohio State straight up. If Wisconsin loses, they’re out. The Badgers had one of the easiest schedules imaginable this season. But if the Badgers beat Ohio State, that means they won the Big Ten while going undefeated. They’re in. 10 to 1 odds aren’t bad a team that hasn’t lost a game yet this season.
