MLB Games of the Week

2018 World Series Odds & Top Picks

October means Octoberfest, Halloween and the MLB playoffs. Oddsmakers have updated the 2018 World Series odds with the Red Sox (+295) and Astros (+325) as the current favorites. Now let’s take a closer look at the rest of the World Series odds and the top picks.

World Series Odds & Picks

World Series Betting Favorites

Boston Red Sox +295

The Red Sox have the best record in the majors with 107 wins. They have won more games than any team in the 118-year history of Boston’s American League franchise.

So are the Red Sox a smart 2018 World Series bet?

Not so fast…Boston is 17-21 against the Indians, Astros, A’s, and Yankees, all fellow AL teams. The Sox do not have a winning record against any of them.

Houston Astros +325

Houston’s pitching staff has been great all season. The Astros lead the majors with 1,677 strikeouts with one game remaining. They’ve already smashed the single-season record of 1,614 strikeouts set by the Indians last season. How far will Houston’s arms take the Astros is anyone’s guess.

Aces Gerrit Cole and Justin Verlander are the first pair of teammates to each record 250 or more strikeouts in a season since 2002.

World Series Contenders

Cleveland Indians +850

Cleveland leads a soft Central Division and by July 4th the Tribe’s playoff ticket was a foregone conclusion. Ace Corey Kluber won 20 games. Edwin Encarnacion drove in 100 runs. The front office also added former AL MVP Josh Donaldson.

Los Angeles Dodgers +900

A lousy 16-26 start plus injuries to some of their biggest stars, including a pair of disabled list stints for ace pitcher Clayton Kershaw, forced the Dodgers to take the scenic route to the postseason.

New York Yankees +975

New York was counting on the big bats Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge to get the Yankees to the World Series. However, it may be a pair of late-season additions that give the Bronx an October to remember.

Lefty J.A. Happ and right-handed hitting minor league first baseman Luke Voit have brought depth and excitement to the lineup. In his first 10 starts in pinstripes, Happ went 6-0 with a 2.34 ERA. And since the start of September, Voit has seven home runs in 18 games, tied for fourth in baseball this month.

Chicago Cubs +1000

The Cubs are wildly inconsistent on offense. Chicago racked up 8+ runs in 34 showings this season. That is tops in the NL and fourth in the MLB. The Cubs also were unable to score more than one run a whopping 35 times in 2018, tied for the most in the ML and second in the majors.

World Series Longshots

  • Colorado Rockies +1075
  • Atlanta Braves +1250
  • Milwaukee Brewers +1350
  • Oakland Athletics +1750

There is a bevy of entertaining football games in the last week of September. I have selected the MUST WATCH college and pro football games to watch. Click here to view live football odds.

Football Games To Watch This Week

Minnesota vs. Los Angeles Rams -6.5
8:20 PM ET, Thursday, September 27
FOX/NFL Network

The L.A. Rams are the favorite to win Super Bowl 53 with their high octane offense and top-tier defense. They face a Vikings team that lost to the 16.5 underdog Bills in Minnesota. This will be a great Thursday Night Football tilt.

#12 West Virginia -3.5 vs. #25 Texas Tech
12 PM ET, Saturday, September 29

West Virginia faces its first top-25 opponent of the season. This is also the Mountaineers first Big 12 Conference away game of the year. Last week Texas Tech beat their first top-15 team in Oklahoma State. That also broke the Red Raiders 9-game losing streak to the Cowboys.

#4 Ohio State -3.5 vs. #9 Penn State
7:30 PM ET, Saturday, September 29

When the top two Big Ten teams face-off, its a must watch affair. In Urban Meyer’s second game on the sidelines for the Buckeyes, they are road favorites at Penn State.

#7 Stanford vs. #8 Notre Dame -4.5
7:30 PM ET, Saturday, September 29

If OSU vs. Penn State doesn’t get your motor running, then Stanford facing the Irish in North Bend will be your ticket. Notre Dame is undefeated. A win by either team will go a long way to playoff consideration come winter.

#19 Oregon -3 vs #24 California
10:30 PM ET, Saturday, September 29

West coast football fans are in for another treat after last week’s Stanford/Oregon tilt. Now Oregon, as a one field-goal road favorite, faces Cal.

Miami vs. New England -7
1:00 PM ET, Sunday, September 30

An AFC East tilt between the 3-0 Miami Dolphins and the 1-2 New England Patriots could be the debut of Josh Gordon as a Patriot. Without Julian Edelman, opponents are locking out Gronk. Edelman returns next week from a four-game PED suspension. Miami needs to take advantage of a shorthanded Pats team before the band gets back together. After this week the Pats will be unstoppable.

Cleveland vs. Oakland -2.5
4:05 PM ET, Sunday, September 30

This will be the top ticket this Sunday. Baker Mayfield starts his first career NFL game against a winless Jon Gruden.

Kansas City -5 vs Denver
8:15 PM ET, Sunday, September 30

Patrick Mahomes is the real deal with 13 passing TDs in three games, breaking Peyton Manning’s record of 12. KC is one of three undefeated teams left and with an extra day to prepare, Andy Reid will stay undefeated.

Must Watch Weekend Games Sept 22-24

There are dozens of nationally televised football games and hundreds of betting markets this weekend. Which games provide the maximum entertainment value for spectators, fans, friendly bettors, and sharps alike? Keep reading to find out.

Must Watch Weekend Games Sept 22-24

#22 Texas A&M at #1 Alabama -27
Bryant-Denny Stadium, Tuscaloosa
Saturday, Sept 22, 2:30 pm ET

Nick Saban is an undefeated 12-0 against former protégées. This week he faces former assistant Jimbo Fisher who served as Saban’s OC at LSU from 2000 to 2004.

Moreover, the Aggies have beaten the Tide just once since joining the SEC. That win came in 2012 will be remembered by now NFL cast-off and current CFL QB Johnny Manziel.

#3 Clemson -16½ at Georgia Tech
Bobby Dodd Stadium, Atlanta
Saturday, Sept 22, 2:30 pm ET

The game inside the game for this tilt will be Georgia Tech’s triple-option versus Clemson’s freakish defensive line. The Tigers beat TCU last week thanks to a three TD, four-minute span early in the second half. Don’t expect Clemson to have to play from behind on this one. Their game plan will be to score early, so the Yellow Jackets have to throw.

#7 Stanford -2 at #20 Oregon
Autzen Stadium, Eugene, OR
Saturday, Sept 22, 8 pm ET

Pac-12 football is always fun. This week it will be Stanford visiting Eugene to face the Oregon Ducks. Is this west-coast colligate rivalry back after a few off years?

Yes! This tussle is reminiscent of the Cardinal-Ducks showdowns from 2010-2013. Both teams are ranked in the top 25, have big offensive weapons, and will battle it out for the PAC-12 title.

Oregon QB Justin Herbert has been excellent so far and the Ducks play in top-gear all game long. Stanford rusher Bryce Love is back after missing a game and they will need him at 100%. In his previous two games against the Ducks, Love has totaled 229 yards rushing and two TDs.

New York Giants at Houston Texans -6
NRG Stadium, Houston
Sunday, Sept 23, 1 pm ET

Both the Giants and Texans need each other. Both teams are winless and have struggled to get on the same page offensively through two games. Both sides have offensive stars coming back from injury in Odell Beckham Jr and Deshaun Watson.

The Giants have the edge in rushing with rookie Saquon Barkley while JJ Watt gives the Texans a defensive advantage.

Los Angeles Chargers at Los Angeles Rams -7
Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, Los Angeles
Sunday, Sept 23, 4:05pm ET

The battle of Los Angeles! What’s not to love. Two high-powered offenses that have dynamic rushers will battle it out to see who will be the king of L.A. until the Lakers start to play.

New England Patriots -6½ at Detroit Lions
Ford Field, Detroit
Sunday, Sept 23, 8:20pm ET

The Patriots are only 6.5-point betting favorites in a prime-time nationally televised game against a winless Lions team. That is crazy even after New England embarrassing loss last week.

Recently, the Pats have gone 8-1 ATS against teams with a losing record, and are 9-3 ATS after a loss. Moreover, since 2016, the Pats are 8-3 ATS in road games they have been favored by 4+ points.

Plus Bill Belichick faces former assistant Matt Patricia who left New England for the Motor City this past offseason. That alone is worth the price of admission.

Pittsburgh Steelers -1½ at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Raymond James Stadium, Tampa
Monday, Sept 24, 8:15 pm ET

The Steelers are winless. The Buccaneers are undefeated. While Pittsburgh is struggling without their star, Tampa Bay is flourishing without theirs. Neither Le’Veon Bell or Jamies Winston will play in this game. But there is no shortage of talent in this tilt. AB and FitzMagic will make this game the most entertaining Monday Night Football game of the young season.

NFL Week 3 Betting Odds

NFL Week 3 Betting Odds

What an odd few days of football. The Patriots are 1-1 and no longer favored to win the Super Bowl even after trading for troubled star Josh Gordon. The Dolphins are 2-0. The Steelers and Browns are winless. So are the Texans and the Jon Gruden Raiders. With all that, this next week of NFL action is going to be a barn burner. Now let’s take a closer look at the NFL Week 3 betting odds.

Chargers vs Rams Odds, Kick-off Time & How To Watch

Chargers vs Rams Odds, Kick-off Time & How To Watch

NFL Week 3 action includes the battle of Los Angeles when the Chargers play the Rams at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Kick-off is scheduled for Sunday, Sept 23rd at 4:05 PM ET.

Chargers vs Rams Odds & Analysis

The NFL Week 3 odds opened favoring the Rams by a touchdown. The Chargers pay out $235 with a straight up win on the moneyline while the Rams pay out $100 if you risk $275.

Who: Chargers vs Rams
Where: Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, Los Angeles
When: Sunday, Sept 23rd, 4:05 PM ET
Watch: CBS
Stream: CBS Sports
Spread: Rams -7 +105
Moneyline: Chargers +235/Rams -275
Total: 48½

Why The Chargers Will Win

The Chargers offense has put up 69-points in the first two weeks of NFL action. Melvin Gordon’s three touchdown performance this past week sealed the 31-20 win over the lowly Bills. Since 2016, his total 27 TDs is second in the NFL only his crosstown rival Todd Gurley who plays for the Rams. Gordon also leads the Chargers in receptions with 15 for 140 yards and two scores.

Last week quarterback Philip Rivers finished 23 of 27 for 256 yards and three touchdowns. He has Keenan Allen, Antonio Gates and former Clemson star Mike Williams catching balls. The later caught his first NFL TD 5 1/2 minutes into the game last week.

Why The Rams Will Win

The Rams are 2-0 outscoring opponents 67-13 including shutting out Arizona in Week 2. Gurley rushed for 42 yards and three touchdowns in 19 carries in that victory. He also scored on two 2-point conversions. Jared Goff threw for 354 yards and a touchdown. Former Saint and Patriot Brandin Cooks had seven receptions for 159 yards.

This is the first time Los Angeles has won its first two games of the season since 2001. The Rams started 6-0 en route to the third Super Bowl appearance in franchise history that year.

Chargers vs Rams Predictions

The Rams have scored 57 unanswered points over their past six quarters. They last trailed 13-10 against Oakland in their season opener. I don’t see the Chargers slowing down their crosstown rival without Joey Bosa.

Both teams are averaging 30+ points per game so far this season. Am I the only one wondering why the total is only 48.5?

College Football Week 4 Odds
