Super Bowl 53

Super Bowl 53

It’s Super Bowl week. This Sunday, the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams will go head-to-head in Super Bowl LIII. Kick-off is at 6:30 p.m. ET on February 3rd. The current Super Bowl betting odds favor New England by 2.5-points. The game total is 56.5 for over/under bets. Click here for live odds.

Super Bowl 53

Tom Brady and the Patriots are playing in their third straight Super Bowl and looking to win their sixth championship in 18 seasons, dating back to Super Bowl XXXVI, when they beat the Rams.

The Rams haven’t been to the Super Bowl since that loss to the Pats, they haven’t won a title since the 1999 season, and have missed the postseason 12 consecutive times.

Both teams advanced to the Super Bowl in dramatic fashion. Both the Pats and Rams needed overtime victories in their conference championship games. The Rams outlasted the New Orleans Saints to win the NFC title, while the Patriots took down the Kansas City Chiefs to capture the AFC crown.

Stanley Cup Odds & Picks

Stanley Cup Odds & Picks

The second half of the NHL season is underway making it a perfect time to take a closer look at the 2019 Stanley Cup odds, top picks, favorites, contenders, and betting long shots.

2019 Stanley Cup Odds & Picks

Ten weeks are left in the 2019 NHL season. There is still much to be decided outside of Tampa Bay’s runaway pace in the Atlantic. 23 of the 31 teams are within five points of a playoff berth. Now let’s take a closer look at 2019’s Stanley Cup betting favorites, contenders, and long shots.

2019 Stanley Cup Betting Favorites

The Tampa Bay Lightning are the clear-cut Stanley Cup betting favorites. As the second half of the season starts, Tampa leads the league with 76 points and a 13-point edge over the next best team in the Eastern Conference. Anything short of a Stanley Cup will be a disappointment for the Lightning after losing in the 2015 Stanley Cup Finals and Game 7 of the conference finals in 2016 and ’18.

Last season Tampa Bay lost to the eventual Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals in the conference final. After going up three games to two, the Lightning were shutout 7-0 in the next two games.

  • Tampa Bay Lightning +290
  • Calgary Flames +700
  • Toronto Maple Leafs +875
  • Winnipeg Jets +900
  • Vegas Golden Knights +975
  • Nashville Predators +1000

The top of the Stanley Cup Finals futures board includes the Western Conference-leading Calgary Flames, Toronto Maple Leafs, and the Winnipeg Jets. 2019 is Canada’s best shot at winning the Cup since the 1993 Montreal Canadiens.

Rounding out 2019’s top picks are the Vegas Golden Knights and Nashville Predators. Both are the two most recent Western Conference finalists and are strong puck-possession teams that can get hot on a dime.

2019 Stanley Cup Betting Contenders

If you are looking for more value on your Stanley Cup bet then consider looking at teams with greater than 10/1 odds to win.

  • San Jose Sharks +1300
  • New York Islanders +1800
  • Pittsburgh Penguins +1850
  • Washington Capitals +2000
  • Columbus Blue Jackets +2050
  • Boston Bruins +2350

Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins are always a threat but have been slowed with injuries. The most devastating was to i No. 1 goalie Matt Murray who was lost for the first four months of the regular season.

I am fading on the defending Stanley Cup champions who are losers of seven straight. No. 1 goalie Braden Holtby needs to return to top form for the Capitals to make another Cup run.

2019 Stanley Cup Betting Longshots

  • Montreal Canadiens +3750
  • Minnesota Wild +4000
  • Dallas Stars +4750
  • Colorado Avalanche +5000
  • Buffalo Sabres +5000
  • Edmonton Oilers +7450
  • Carolina Hurricanes +8000
  • Anaheim Ducks +8000
  • Vancouver Canucks +9500

  • Ottawa Senators +75000
  • Philadelphia Flyers +75000

Super Bowl LIII MVP Odds & Picks

Super Bowl LIII MVP Odds & Picks

The New England Patriots are playing in their third straight Super Bowl, and Tom Brady is the heavy favorite to win his fifth Super Bowl MVP.

Standing in the way are Jared Goff and the Los Angeles Rams. Goff is the second Super Bowl MVP favorite while the Rams are 2.5-point underdogs to win the Vince Lombardy Trophy.

Super Bowl LIII MVP Odds & Picks

Super Bowl LIII MVP Favorites

Super Bowl quarterbacks are almost always team favorites to win MVP honors for the big game. This year is no different. A quarterback has won MVP in seven of the past 10 Super Bowls.

  • Tom Brady (Pats) +110
  • Jared Goff (Rams) +225

Brady’s postseason stat lines are amazing. He has thrown for 691 yards, 2 TDs and 2 INTs in a pair of postseason games. Goff’s numbers are more pedestrian at 483 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT.

Super Bowl LIII MVP Contenders

Next up on the MVP odds sheet are the Rams rushing duo of Todd Gurley and C. J. Anderson. Gurley was the rushing leader for most of the season until a late-season knee injury slowed him down. The Rams from office brought in three time cast-off Anderson to fill the hole.

  • Todd Gurley (Rams) +1350
  • C. J. Anderson (Rams) +1800
  • Aaron Donald (Rams) +1850
  • Sony Michel (Pats) +2000
  • James White (Pats) +2500
  • Julian Edelman (Pats) +2600
  • Robert Woods (Rams) +4000
  • Brandin Cooks (Rams) +4000
  • Rob Gronkowski (Pats) +4500

Anderson’s employment record over the past ten months is surprising. The Broncos released him after five seasons that included more than 3,000 yards, a Pro Bowl and two Super Bowls. He was then signed and released by the Panthers after nine games and 24 carries. Then in Week 15, Jon Gruden signed and released the back after five days and zero games in a Raiders uniform. He was finally signed by the Rams a week before Christmas after Gurley dinged his knee and backup Malcolm Brown went down for the season. Anderson has played three games with the Rams and put up MVP numbers. He had 167 yards against the Cardinals, 132 against the 49ers, 123 and two touchdowns in the divisional-round victory over the Cowboys. At 27 years old he still has a few good years left in the tank.

Super Bowl LIII MVP Longshots

  • Dante Fowler Jr. (Rams) +7500
  • Aquib Talib (Rams) +8000
  • Rex Burkhead (Pats) +8000
  • Trey Flowers (Pats) +10000

  • Adrian Clayborn (Pats) +10000
  • Chris Hogan (Pats) +10000

Patriots vs Rams Super Bowl 53 Betting Preview

Patriots vs Rams Super Bowl 53 Betting Preview

The Super Bowl LIII will feature the fresh-faced Los Angeles Rams facing the Super Bowl stalwart New England Patriots. The Super Bowl LIII betting line opened with the Rams as one-point favorites. Early money on New England has pushed the Patriots to 2-point favorites. The game total is 58-points for over/under bets. Click here for live Super Bowl lines and here for Super Bowl 54 odds.

Super Bowl 53 kicks off on at 6:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, Feb. 3rd from the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

New England Patriots vs. Los Angeles Rams Super Bowl 53 Betting Preview

Both the Pats and Rams were 3-point underdogs heading into their respective Conference Championships. It took overtime for both teams to make it to the Super Bowl. The 66-year-old Bill Belichick, the 41-year-old Tom Brady, and the Patriots defeated the Chiefs 37-31. The 32-year-old Sean McVay, the 24-year-old Jared Goff, and the Los Angeles beat the Saints 26-23 after the biggest no call in the history of sports.

Yes, the Patriots opened as slight underdogs to win the Super Bowl against the Rams before being bet heavily and being turned into 2-point favorites. The Pats have milked their slow start into us against the world theme for their ever so predictable playoff push. But let’s not pretend that a team that’s been to eight consecutive AFC championship games, three straight Super Bowls and won five championship in 18 seasons is an underdog. Early money proves that.

Let’s put this into further perspective. Brady’s first Super Bowl trip and win was against the Rams and now 8 Super Bowls trips later Brady faces the Rams again in his ninth trip to the Super Bowl. Goff was just eight years old when Brady won his that first ring. The Rams haven’t been to the Super Bowl since that loss to the Pats in 2002, and they haven’t won a title since the 1999 season.

Super Bowl Betting Trends:

  • Underdogs are a ridiculous 13-4 ATS in the last 17 Super Bowls, including outright wins in 6 of the previous 7.
  • The Patriots are 2-5 ATS in their last seven Super Bowl appearances.
  • In the last five postseasons, Tom Brady is 4-2 when trailing in the final 3 minutes of regulation. All other QBs are a combined 7-50.
