Updated NFL MVP Odds & Betting Outlook

Updated NFL MVP Odds & Betting Outlook

There is a new 2019 NFL MVP winner betting odds favorite. Granted, Patrick Mahomes is still on the sidelines, but Aaron Rodgers has earned his new frontrunner status.

Updated NFL MVP Odds & Betting Outlook

Rodgers is 35 years old and is on pace to finish with 4,600 yards passing, 32 touchdowns, and four interceptions. He is the +260 moneyline betting favorite to be named AP’s NFL MVP for 2019. This is just one year after a miserable injury-plagued season in which he boasted a 25-2 touchdown-to-interception ratio. However, the Packers finished the season a disappointing 6-9-1. This season with a new coach and an upgraded defense, Green Bay already has seven wins this season.

Joining Rodgers atop the NFL MVP odds list is Russell Wilson, who is a close second at +275 moneyline odds. His 68.4% completion rate is 7.9% higher than his expected completion rate. What does that mean? It indicates that he’s completing a lot of passes that defy the laws of physics. No QB in the league is asked to do more with less talent and within his offensive system. He is the reason the Seahawks are 6-2 and will make the playoffs.

The surprise name in the top ten of the NFL MVP odds list? Kirk Cousins! He is a +2500 contender to be name MVP by AP tied with teammate Dalvin Cook. The Vikings QB was more than invisible in his team’s first month. He was a liability. After the first four games of the season, Minnesota was 2-2 and was scraping the bottom in pass attempts per game at 24.8, passing yards per game at 169, and passing touchdowns with 3 all season.

However, Cousins has bounced back since being called out by teammate Adam Thielen. Minnesota went from trying to limit Cousins’ impact to opening the playbook and playing with a win or go home attitude. The Vikings shifted away from its conservative, run-heavy offense towards a full on air attack centered around its redoubled efforts in play-action. Now Cousins leads the NFL in yards per pass attempt (9.3) and completion rate (72.1 percent). He is second in passer rating (115.2), ranks fifth in touchdown passes (13), and is fourth in completion rate (69.8 percent).

Now more on Cook’s NFL MVP odds. With 823 rushing yards and 293 receiving yards through the first eight games, Cook is on pace for 1,646 rushing yards and 2,232 yards from scrimmage. He will have to have a big second half to the season; otherwise, he will split the MVP votes that will go to running backs with Carolina’s Christian McCaffrey.

Updated Heisman Trophy Odds After Week 11

Updated College Football Futures Heading Into Week 10

Time to check in on the latest college football betting futures odds on who will win the Heisman Trophy and NCAA National Title.

Ten weeks ago, would you have believed that neither Tua Tagovailoa or Trevor Lawrence would be Heisman Trophy betting favorites? Or that a team NOT named the Alabama Crimson Tide or Clemson Tigers would be atop the AP Top 25 college football rankings?

Updated College Football Futures Heading Into Week 10

The early weeks of the 2019 football season were flush with talk about ‘Tanking for Tua,’ but there’s a new horse in the race for not only the Heisman but for the top pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. At Week 10, it’s all about LSU QB Joe Burrow who now is the +115 betting favorite to win the Heisman Trophy. Moreover, LSU is currently the top-ranked team in the nation! All thanks to Burrow. Last season, entering the Tigers’ eighth game of the season, the 22-year-old had thrown a measly six touchdowns to go with two interceptions. Fast forward to 2019. After nine weeks of action, Burrow had 29 touchdowns and just three interceptions. Add all of that up and LSU is ranked number one in the nation and the third favorite to win the NCAA Football National Championship at +500.

NFL has one game left on the board before Week 9 starts and here are the trending NFL betting spreads that you need to jump on before public bets skew the odds.

NFL Trending Opening Odds Week 9

Thursday, October 31, 2019

San Francisco (7-0) at Arizona (3-4-1)
at 8:20 PM ET
TV: NFLN
Spread: San Francisco -8

Okay, okay, I’m officially on the 49ers’ bandwagon! San Francisco improved to 7-0 by smacking Carolina senseless en route to a stunning 51-13 win on Sunday. Arizona’s Kyler Murray is clearly gifted, but the rookie signal-caller will be tested against Frisco’s second-ranked scoring defense (11.0 ppg).

Sunday, November 3, 2019

Houston (5-3) at Jacksonville (4-4)
at 9:30 AM ET
TV: NFLN
Spread: Houston -2.5

The Jags smacked the lowly Jets around 29-15 on Sunday as rookie quarterback Gardner Minshew II continued his eye-opening inaugural campaign by tossing three TD passes and no picks, but Houston’s Deshaun Watson is an MVP-caliber superstar of the highest order, and the Texans have a ton to play for as they look to make consecutive playoff appearances this season.

Minnesota (6-2) at Kansas City (5-2)
at 1:00 PM ET
TV: FOX
Spread: Minnesota -3

The Chiefs looked fantastic on Sunday night against Aaron Rodgers and the Packers, but Minnesota has won four straight, and I suspect their lock-down defense will make life super difficult on Chiefs’ veteran backup Matt Moore in this one despite being on the road.

Indianapolis (5-2) at Pittsburgh (2-4)
at 1:00 PM ET
TV: CBS
Spread: Indianapolis -1

The Steelers will get a bye in Week 8 and basically, another one against pitiful Miami on Monday night, but Indianapolis has won three straight and five of six behind quarterback Jacoby Brissett and ageless future hall of Famer Adam Vinateri.

Chicago (3-4) at Philadelphia (4-4)
at 1:00 PM ET
TV: FOX
Spread: Philadelphia -5

The Bears have lost three straight and clearly made a massive mistake by drafting mediocre quarterback Mitch Trubisky with the second overall pick when both, Patrick Mahomes (10th) and Deshaun Watson (12th) were available in the 2017 NFL Draft. Philadelphia didn’t exactly set the place on fire in their 31-13 win over Buffalo. Still, the Birds are desperate, and they have the big edge at quarterback even though Carson Went isn’t having the MVP-caliber season I expected out of him this season.

Tampa Bay (2-5) at Seattle (6-2)
at 4:05 PM ET
TV: FOX
Spread: Seattle -6.5

Seattle has an MVP-caliber star that can do it all in veteran signal-caller Russell Wilson (17 TDs, 1 INT). The Tampa Bay Buccaneers do not…and if underachieving veteran Jameis Winston (14 TDs, 12 INTs) throws one more interception, I’m going to explode. Boom!

Cleveland (2-5) at Denver (2-6)
at 4:25 PM ET
TV: CBS
Spread: Denver -2

Second-year running back Nick Chubb is playing at a Pro Bowl level, but the Browns have lost three straight and four of five. Denver has lost two straight, but I’m expecting Von Miller and company to continue to humble loud-mouthed (jackass?) quarterback Baker Mayfield in this matchup of underachieving AFC playoff longshots.

Green Bay (6-1) at LA Chargers (3-5)
at 4:25 PM ET
TV: CBS
Spread: Green Bay -3.5

Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers have played some solid football over the first half of the season, but the Bolts are feeling good after picking up a huge 17-16 road win in Chicago on Sunday. More importantly, the Chargers were expected to be a legitimate Super Bowl contender this season and they’ve got a ton of motivation to get their act together after winning a dozen games a year ago.

New England (8-0) at Baltimore (5-2)
at 8:20 PM ET
TV: NBC
Spread: New England -3.5

The Patriots have not allowed more than 14 points in any game this season and they humbled Baker Mayfield and the Browns on Sunday. Still, Baltimore has won three straight and looked fantastic in their Week 7 win over Seattle. I think an upset could be brewing in this one!

Monday, November 4, 2019
Dallas (4-3) at NY Giants (2-6)
at 8:15 PM ET
TV: ESPN
Spread: Dallas -3

The Boys will be well-rested after getting a bye this past weekend and they’re feeling good after pounding Philly 37-10 in Week 7. On the flip side of the coin, the rebuilding Giants have lost four straight while giving up 27 or more or more in each contest and 31 or more in two of those games. Why the Boys are ‘just’ 3-point road faves is anyone’s guess, but the outcome here looks like a lock!

College Football First Look Week 10

College Football First Look Week 10

This past Saturday, outside of a couple of games, was a borderline disaster. However, week 10 of college football betting action is going to blow the socks off of the tamest duck. The combination of second-ranked LSU visiting Tuscolusa to take on No. 1 Alabama and No. 13 Minnesota hosting No. 5 Penn State. That makes two games that will take place on a single day involving both teams with a record of 8-0 or better. That’s a first in AP Poll era, which dates back to 1936.

College Football First Look Week 10

Thursday, October 31, 2019

West Virginia (3-4) at Baylor (7-0)
at 8:00 PM ET
TV: ESPN

Both teams will be well-rested in this Big 12 battle after getting a bye this past weekend. Still, the unbeaten Baylor Bears have a double-digit scoring edge on both sides of the ball plus the motivation of trying to snap a three-game losing streak against a West Virginia team that has dropped three in a row.

Saturday, November 2, 2019

Michigan (6-2) at Maryland (3-5)
at 12:00 PM ET
TV: ABC

Michigan might not be a legitimate championship contender this season, but the Wolverines have dominated their Big Ten rivals in this series by winning four straight by at least 21 points. After putting 42 or more on the board in two of their last three games, Jim Harbaugh’s boys look like a lock to get past a Maryland team that got completely and utterly embarrassed at Minnesota this past weekend.

NC State (4-3) at Wake Forest (6-1)
at 12:00 PM ET
TV: ESPN

Sure, nothing good has come out of Wake Forest since Tim Duncan was suiting up for the ACC-based school, but right now, the Demon Deacons are nationally ranked. So what, it’s because the ACC is full of trash this season. NC State definitely fits that bill, having dropped three of five while alternating wins and losses during the span.

Virginia Tech (5-2) at Notre Dame (5-2)
at 2:30 PM ET
TV: NBC

The Irish saw their faint playoff hopes go up in smoke thanks to their stunning 45-14 blowout loss against Michigan on Saturday. Now, Brian Kelly’s squad will get another test when they host a Hokies team that has won three straight while putting 42 or more on the board in two of those contests.

Georgia (6-1) at Florida (7-1)
3:30 PM ET
TV: CBS

Georgia’s Week 7 upset at the hands of mediocre South Carolina doesn’t look good at all while Florida’s Week 7 defeat against No. 2 LSU doesn’t look too bad at all right now. The Gators will look to take care of business at home, but they’ve been blown out by the Bulldogs in each of the last two years. The loser of this affair will see their slim playoff hopes crushed.

Utah (7-1) at Washington (5-3)
at 4:00 PM ET
TV: FOX

Washington might be playing at home, but the Huskies have lost two of three and suffered a discouraging collapse against Oregon the last time they took to the gridiron Utah has won four straight while not giving up more than 13 points along the way. Now, the Utes will look to snap a four-game losing streak in this Pac-12 pairing to keep their CFP and New Year’s day bowl hopes alive.

Wofford (5-2) at Clemson (8-0)
at 4:00 PM ET
TV: ACCN

Wofford has won five straight while scoring 49 or more three times during the stretch. Could the Terriers upset Trevor Lawrence and the Tigers in this Week 8 mismatch? When you know what freezes over!

Ole Miss (3-5) at Auburn (6-2)
7:00 PM ET
TV: ESPN

Make no mistake about it. Despite falling to LSU on Saturday and dropping two of their last three, Auburn almost certainly won’t have any problems getting past a mediocre Ole Miss squad that has dropped two straight and four of five overall.

SMU (8-0) at Memphis (7-1)
at 7:30 PM ET
TV: ABC

Both of these nationally-ranked AAC rivals have a lot to play for as they hold on to their New Year’s Day bowl hopes. Memphis has won five straight in this rivalry, but the Tigers fell to a Temple Owls program 30-28 that SMU routed 45-21 in Week 8.

Oregon (7-1) at USC (5-3)
at 8:00 PM ET
TV: FOX

USC is playing at home, and they blew the Ducks out of the water at home the last time they met back in 2016. However, this isn’t 2016, and now, the Ducks are the better team in this Pac-12 pairing and the only one with anything of real value to play for as they look to keep their New Year’s Day bowl game and slim CFP hopes alive.

Alabama Vs Clemson Part IV

College Football Futures Odds After Tua’s Surgery

Two college football futures odds shaking events happened this past Saturday. First, the Wisconsin Badgers lost to unranked Illinois. Then future first-overall pick Tua Tagovailoa left Alabama’s game with a high-ankle sprain. It’s the same injury he suffered last season. Tide head coach Nick Saban quickly quieted doubters by pointing out that it’s the other ankle this time and required a “tight-rope” procedure to repair. Both Tagovailoa and Saban are expecting a “full and speedy recovery.”

College Football Futures Odds After Tua’s Surgery

How did those two events affect the college football betting futures odds? Wisconsin’s odds to win the 2019 College Football National Championship odds dropped from +2000 to +7500. The Tide’s National Football Championship odds dropped from +245 to +280, although Alabama still remains the odds-on favorite. Tagovailoa’s Heisman odds dipped from -113 to +300 after his surgery, making him a value buy.

NFL Trending Odds Week 8

NFL Week 8 betting odds are out with the books yet to close on week seven. Here are the top NFL trending betting odds you need to jump on before public bets adjust the spread.

NFL Trending Odds Week 8

Thursday, Oct. 24

Washington at Minnesota at 8:20 PM ET
TV: NFLN
Spread: Minnesota -15½

Washington got blanked against Frisco on Sunday while getting held to less than 10 points for the third time this season. Minnesota’s powerful defense has suddenly got some considerable help from Kirk Cousins and his offensive mates while scoring 28 or more in each of their last three.

Sunday, Oct. 27

Seattle at Atlanta at 1:00 PM ET
TV: FOX
Spread: NL

The Seahawks had their three-game winning streak snapped in their home loss to Baltimore this past weekend, but Atlanta has clearly quit on head coach Dan Quinn while dropping five straight. Oh, and then there’s the fact that Matt Ryan is injured.

L.A. Chargers at Chicago at 1:00 PM ET
TV: FOX
Spread: Chicago -5½

The Bears will be at home, and they’ll definitely be motivated to snap a two-game skid, but I don’t trust mediocre quarterback Mitch Trubisky, and I expect Joey Bosa and the rest of the completely desperate Bolts to get up close and personal in this Week 8 inter-conference clash.

Arizona at New Orleans at 1:00 PM ET
TV: CBS
Spread: New Orleans -9

Right now, it’s easy to see why Arizona made Kyler Murray the first overall pick in the draft. Still, Drew Brees might be back under center for the red-hot Saints, and that just doesn’t bode well for the young Cardinals and their hopes of extending their surprising three-game winning streak.

Philadelphia at Buffalo at 1:00 PM ET
TV: FOX
Spread: Buffalo -1½

The Birds are in a bad way right now, having lost two straight while getting smacked around by Dallas on Sunday night. Still, Philly looks like they’ll have a more than decent chance of getting past a Bills team that has looked mediocre at best for the majority of this season and entered the half down against the atrocious Dolphins before putting their longtime division rivals away in the second half.

Cincinnati vs L.A. Rams at 1:00 PM ET
TV: CBS
Spread: LA Rams -12½

The Rams got back on track by beating the brakes off awful Atlanta on Sunday, and now it looks like they’ll make it two in a row by beating a winless Cincy squad that looked a lot better under former head coach Marvin Lewis than they have all season under rookie Zac Taylor.

Denver at Indianapolis at 1:00 PM ET
TV: CBS
Spread: Indianapolis -6½

Denver’s Joe Flacco looked like a dude stuck in cement shoes while getting sacked nine times against Kansas City in Thursday night’s embarrassing loss while Indy’s Jacoby Brissette continued to make Andrew Luck a distant memory by tossed four TD passes to upset Kansas City on the road on Sunday.

Oakland at Houston at 4:25 PM ET
TV: CBS
Spread: Houston -7

The Raiders had their two-game winning stream emphatically snapped by getting repeatedly burned by Aaron Rodgers on Sunday. Houston also was on the wrong end of a narrow road loss to Indy on Sunday, but Deshaun Watson and company look like a team that will take care of business in this matchup of AFC playoff hopefuls.

Cleveland at New England at 4:25 PM ET
TV: CBS
Spread: New England -10½

The new car smell is completely gone for Baker Mayfield as the Cleveland Browns look to snap a two-game losing streak against Tom Brady and the unbeaten defending Super Bowl champs. If you’re among those that don’t like the trash-talking Mayfield, then you’re probably hoping Bill Belichick dials up a defensive scheme that embarrasses the struggling second-year signal-caller.

Green Bay at Kansas City at 8:20 PM ET
TV: NBC
Spread: Green Bay -3½

This would have been a great primetime matchup had Patrick Mahomes not gotten hurt. Now it kind of looks like a matchup where Aaron Rodgers will have a field day. Then again, the Chiefs did just pound Joe Flacco into the dirt nine times on Thursday night, and they are ranked a surprising ninth against the pass. Still, without their league MVP, Kansas City will be hard-pressed to take hold it down at home in this one!
