2018 World Series Betting Favorite:  Houston Astros +550

There are reasons to believe the Houston Astros repeat as World Series Champions. However, there are two huge reasons to believe the Astros don’t repeat. First, it’s almost impossible to repeat as World Series champs. It just doesn’t happen that often.

Second, Houston still doesn’t have a legit closer. Ken Giles got benched in last year’s World Series. I’m not sure the tactics Houston used to beat the Dodgers in last year’s World Series work this season in the American League Playoffs.

The Smart World Series Pick:  Chicago Cubs +850

The Cubs had a decent 2017. They made it back to the National League Championship Series. You’d think they wouldn’t switch things up in 2018. Not so. The Chicago Cubs don’t rest on their laurels anymore.

Chicago won the Yu Darvish sweepstakes. That alone makes them a huge contender to win the National League this season. With Darvish, the Cubs have two legitimate ace pitchers in Darvish and Jon Lester.  The Cubs also have two legit B pitchers in Jose Quintana and Kyle Hendricks.

That’s not the only reason to love the Cubs. Chicago traded for Brandon Morrow. They’re turning Morrow into their closer. If it works, Chicago could return to it’s 2016 World Series glory season.

The Longshot World Series Pick:  Arizona Diamondbacks +3000

I like the Arizona Diamondbacks to challenge the L.A.  Dodgers for supremacy in the wild NL West. The D’Backs boast a decent starting rotation. Not only that, but Arizona’s offense is on par with the Colorado Rockies’ offense.

If Zona’s bullpen can step it up this season, I expect Arizona to have a big shot at the NL West Division title. If they win the NL West, look out. Both Zack Greinke and Robbie Ray could be impossible to get past in the playoffs.
