The 2017 college basketball tipped off this past Saturday, Nov 10th with little fan fare while fans focus on the football hysteria. That doesn’t mean you can’t start making a little green in the first full week of college hoops action.
College Basketball Week 1 Betting Cheat Sheet
Looking ahead to the first full week of college basketball we start with Indiana visiting #23 Seton Hall on Nov. 15 and #17 Xavier versus Wisconsin on Thursday, Nov. 16. Also on Thursday, Providence battles Washington in a nationally televised matchup. Saturday’s game has Utah traveling to #18 Gonzaga while Sunday’s game pits Western Carolina versus #15 Minnesota.
Wednesday, Nov. 15
Indiana at #23 Seton Hall
FS1 at 6:30 pm ET
Indiana is already 0 and 1 after losing 69 to 90 to Indiana State on Nov. 10. Indiana was a -13.5 favorite. The Hoosiers face a tough task on Wednesday versus Seton Hall. The Pirates beat Farleigh-Dickinson 90 to 68 in their first game of the season. Seton Hall barely missed covering as a -24.5 favorite.
Thursday, Nov. 16
#17 Xavier at Wisconsin
FS1 at 8:30 pm ET
This intriguing early season battle pits a Big East powerhouse versus a Big Ten powerhouse. Xavier squashed Morehead State 101 to 49 in their first game of the season. The Musketeers easily covered a -27.5 spread. In their first game, Wisconsin beat South Carolina State 89 to 50 in a game without a line.
Providence at Washington
ESPN 2 at 9:00 pm ET
Providence dominated the Houston Baptist Huskies 84 to 55 on Nov. 10. Odds makers didn’t set a line for the game. Washington beat Belmont 86 to 82 as a -4-home favorite on Nov. 10. College basketball handicappers shouldn’t be surprised if Providence is favored over the Washington Huskies even though the Friars are on the road in this Thursday battle.
Saturday, Nov. 18
Utah State at #18 Gonzaga
ESPN 3 at 10:00 pm ET
The ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs put a 97 to 69 beating onto the Texas Southern Tigers in their first game of the season. Utah State lost 59 to 65 to Weber in their first game of the season. Gonzaga could be a more than 26-point favorite on Nov. 18. The Zags shot 48.6% from the field versus Texas Southern. They also shot a ridiculous 44% from three in the lopsided victory over Texas Southern.
Sunday, Nov. 19
Western Carolina at #15 Minnesota
FS1 at 4:30 pm ET
Clemson handed Western Carolina an 85 to 57 loss on Nov. 10. The Catamounts are at Cincinnati on Nov. 13 before battling at Minnesota on Nov. 19. Minnesota beat South Carolina Upstate 85 to 66 in yet another College Basketball Week 1 game without a point spread. Minnesota should face more of a challenge from Western Carolina this Sunday.
