The Favorite Pick To Win The Men’s College Basketball Title: Duke +615
Freshman point-guard Trevon Duval is the key to whether the Duke Blue Devils play up to their pre-season favoritism. Duval is one of the top point-guards in the 2017 class. If Duval is as good as advertised, Duke, should they not suffer the same injuries they did last season, could win the NCAA Men’s College Basketball National Championship.
Could is the operative word. Duke plays in the best conference in college hoops, the ACC. The brutal ACC schedule could tire out the Blue Devils before the NCAA tournament. At only +615, I’m not willing to find out.
The Smart Pick To Win The Men’s College Basketball Title: Arizona +950
Arizona is loaded this season. Point-guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright is going to share time with Alex Barcello. That’s a good thing. Alonzo Trier is one of the top players in college basketball this season. Center Dusan Rustic is a senior center while Zona coach Sean Miller recruited 7’ 1” frontline player DeAndre Ayton.
Per more than a few college basketball experts, Ayton is one of the best players Arizona has ever recruited. That makes him on at least the level of last season’s top Wildcat freshman, Lauri Markannen. Rawle Alkins, a bulldozer of a guard that can get to the rim versus any defense, must sit out until a bone in his hand heals. Once it does, Alkins becomes one of the top players on Arizona’s team.
The Longshot Pick To Win The Men’s College Basketball Title: Wichita State +3000
The Shockers are worth a long look at 30 to 1 to win the NCAA Men’s College Basketball Championship. Wichita State’s march to a basketball championship starts with frontcourt player Shaq Morris. Morris scored in double-figures in 13 of 17 games last season. The backcourt duo of shooting guard Connor Framkamp and point-guard Landry Shamet make Wichita State a Final Four team. 30 to 1? That’s ridiculous odds.
