Hot NASCAR Picks

Kevin Harvick

The current leader in the NASCAR standings won the Pocono 325 on Saturday and finished second to Denny Hamlin in the Pocono 350 the following day. Harvick also won in Atlanta on June 7 while taking the checkered flag at Darlington in May. With a dozen Top-10 finishes, eight Top-5 finishes and three wins in 15 races this year, Kevin Harvick is offering a ton of value in the 2020 Brickyard 400.

Denny Hamlin

Hamlin might be fourth in the standings, but he’s on fire coming into this event after finishing second to Harvick in Saturday’s Pocono 325 and taking the checkered flag in Sunday’s Pocono 350. Hamlin has 10 Top-10 finishes this year to go along with a NASCAR high nine Top-5 finishes and another NASCAR0best four victories. Hamlin has also won two of the last four races heading into this coming weekend while finishing sixth in the 2019 Brickyard 400.

Ryan Blaney

Blaney finished 12th on Saturday and a disappointing 22nd on Sunday in NASCAR’s Pocono doubleheader this past weekend, but he’s also second in the standings with seven Top-10 finishes and an identical seven Top-5 finishes. Blaney won at Talladega two weeks ago and finished fifth in this race a year ago.

Cold NASCAR Picks

Joey Logano

Logano has six Top-10 finishes, three Top-5 finishes and a pair of wins at Las Vegas and Phoenix. However, that was before the hiatus. In his last four races, Logano has finished between 17t and 36t and that just doesn’t bode well heading into this race. The good news is that Logano finished second in the 2019 Brickyard 400.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

19th in the NASCAR standings, Stenhouse Jr. has recorded three Top-10 finishes and an identical three Top-5 finishes this season. The bad news is that he’s also finished 13th or worst in six of his last seven races while finishing a discouraging 31st in this race a year ago.

Long Shot Brickyard 400 Picks

Jimmie Johnson

The sure-fire future Hall of Fame legend might be in his last full season, driving the now, famous No. 48 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports, but I think he’s worth a shot as a longshot selection. Currently 12th in the standings, Johnson has six Top-10 finishes and a pair of Top-5 finishes this year. Johnson finished 21st and 16th this past weekend at Pocono, but the seven-time NASCAR Cup champion does have four wins in this race, one behind record-holder Jeff Gordon.

Bubba Wallace

Sure, Wallace has mostly been in the spotlight recently because of his stand against racism and the Confederate flag, but he’s also recorded a pair of Top-5 finishes while finishing third in the 2019 Brickyard 400.

Racing fans get ready! NASCAR is set to return to live action on Sunday, May 17 at Darlington Raceway in Darlington, South Carolina. Click here for live NASCAR odds.

NASCAR Cup Series Race at Darlington Raceway Odds

The 400-mile May 17 race is set to get underway at 3:30 PM ET, live on FOX, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. This event represents the first of three races at the track, including a second Cup Series race held midweek under the lights three days later and the Coca-Cola 600 in its traditional Memorial Day weekend gathering for the 60th consecutive season.

  • Kyle Busch +650
The prohibitive favorite in this race and reigning NASCAR champion was winless through the first six races of the season and he’s only got one career win at Darlington, which came at the Dodge Challenger 500 in the spring race back in 2008.
  • Kevin Harvick +700
Harvick is also winless so far this season, but the veteran driver won at Darlington by taking the checkered flag at the 2014 Bojangles’ Southern 500.
  • Denny Hamlin +750
Hamlin won this year’s Daytona 500 and he’s won on this track twice in his career, most recently at the 2017 Bojangles’ Southern 500.
  • Martin Truex Jr +800
Truex Jr., the 2017 NASCAR champ, has just one career win at Darlington and it came in the 2016 Bojangles’ Southern 500.
  • Joey Logano +850
The 2018 NASCAR champ got his 2020 off to a red-hot start by finding his way into the winner’s circle three-time and twice over the last three races prior to the season being suspended. Unfortunately, Logano has never won at Darlington in his career.
  • Brad Keselowski +950
Keselowski, the 2012 NASCAR champ won the 2018 VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero 400 to record his only career victory at Darlington.
  • Chase Elliott +1100
Elliott is also winless to start the season, but he also took the checkered flag at Darlington to win the 2014 VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero 400.
  • Erik Jones +1375
Jones won the Clash at Daytona to start the year, but he enters this event as the last driver to win at Darlington by claiming the 2019 Bojangles’ Southern 500 last September.
  • Alex Bowman +1400
Bowman took the checkered flag in California just two races prior to the season being suspended, although he’s never won at Darlington raceway.
  • Kurt Busch +2500
Busch is winless this year and he’s never ever won at Darlington. Enough said!
  • Matt Kenseth +2500
  • Jimmie Johnson +2500
  • Ryan Blaney +2500
  • William Byron +2500
  • Matt DiBenedetto +4500
  • Aric Almirola +6000
  • Clint Bowyer +6600

iRacing for eNASCAR is a hit

iRacing for eNASCAR is a hit

NASCAR and sports betting fans have enthusiastically embraced iRacing! With the third race coming up this weekend (click here for the odds on the Food City 500 at Bristol) let’s get you up to speed on how you can bet on the newest iteration of racing!

What is iRacing and how does it work?

iRacing is an online motorsports simulation platform that was created in 2004  by Dave Kaemmer, the co-founder of Papyrus Design Group and John Henry, the majority owner of the Boston Red Sox and Liverpool Football Club as well as co-owner of NASCAR’s Roush Fenway Racing. Now, almost a decade later,  iRacing.com has formed several high profile partnerships with NASCAR, IndyCar, McLaren Racing, Williams F1, Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Ford, Mercedes-Benz, and Porsche, to name a few.

If you think of iRacing as more of a fun-filled video game experience, think again. It’s more of a simulation that allows everyday Joe’s to register for a race, though there are system requirements you’ll need in order to compete.

“First of all, it is extremely realistic,” current NASCAR Cup Series driver Clint Bowyer said this week after competing in the first NASCAR iRacing Pro invitational Series event. “You’re using the same mechanics, the same forces, the same movements as you use in real life to make your car go fast; and that is your hand-eye coordination, your feet.

“You drive these things so much with the pedals, with the gas, the brake, the steering input. All of those inputs in your mind are the exact same thing, and the same tools we use to put your car to the front of the field on any given Sunday.”

“iRacing has been perfected,” Bowyer said. “The production is good. The camera angles are good. I mean, they have their own series, there are serious races each and every week, just like ours does.”

Each driver has a screen, a steering wheel, and pedals. Most drivers utilize crew chiefs to help with tire and fuel strategy just as they would in a real race.

What is the NASCAR iRacing Pro invitational Series?

The series was created shortly after the outbreak of the novel coronavirus that has disrupted life across the globe as we know it. With all three of NASCAR’s racing series on hold, the iRacing series features drivers from its headline MonsterEnergy Cup as well as the Xfinity and Truck platforms.

“Until we have cars back on track, the entire NASCAR community has aligned to provide our passionate fans with a unique, fun and competitive experience on race day,” said NASCAR vice president of racing development Ben Kennedy. “Our long-time partners at iRacing offer an incredible product, and we are excited to see how many of our best drivers will stack up in the virtual domain of competitive racing.”

The NASCAR iRacing series kicked off on Sunday, March 22 with a race at the virtual Homestead-Miami Speedway and it far surpassed expectations as nearly a million viewers (903,000), tuned in for the inaugural race.

“We’re overwhelmed by the positive feedback and encouragement sent by industry stakeholders, drivers, partners, media and most importantly, our fans,’’ said NASCAR senior vice president and chief digital officer. Tim Clark. “We are committed to running these eNASCAR iRacing events as long as necessary.”

While you’re going to see many of the familiar names of some of NASCAR’s best drivers, you shouldn’t be stunned if you’re not consistently seeing their names in the winner’s circle.

“If you think we’re good? We’re terrible,” Clint Bowyer said. “You ought to watch some of these iRacing guys that do this each and every week.”

Current schedule for the eNASCAR iRacing Pro invitational Series through May 3

Date Postponed NASCAR Cup race iRacing race iRacing winner
March 22 Dixie Vodka 400 (Homestead) Dixie Vodka 125 (Homestead) Denny Hamlin
March 29 O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 (Texas) O’Reilly Auto Parts 125 (Texas) Timmy Hill
April 5 Food City 500 (Bristol) TBD (Bristol) TBD
April 19 Toyota Owners 400 (Richmond) ? ?
April 26 Geico 500 (Talladega) ? ?
May 3 Cup race at Dover (Dover) ? ?

The debut NASCAR iRacing event was limited to 35 drivers. The 26 regular Cup Series drivers who entered the race (plus Dale Earnhardt. Jr., Parker Kligerman and Bobby Labonte) were given spots, and the final six spots were given to Xfinity and Trucks Series drivers based on the results of a qualifying race.

Here is a look at some of the notable drivers that will be competing in iRacing.

Drivers with guaranteed spots:

  • #1 Kurt Busch
  • #3 Austin Dillon
  • #6 Ross Chastain
  • #8 Dale Earnhardt Jr
  • #9 Chase Elliott
  • #11 Denny Hamlin
  • #12 Ryan Blaney
  • #13 Ty Dillon
  • #14 Clint Bowyer
  • #16 Greg Biffle
  • #17 Chris Buescher
  • #18 Kyle Busch

The beloved Dale Earnhardt Jr. has been one of the driving forces behind iRacing.

“I would say the force behind it all, and he doesn’t want any recognition, but it would be Dale Jr.,” Bowyer said. “He’s been the voice behind this the whole time. He’s the one that literally each and every night jumps on and runs around and asks people, ‘Hey, do you want to follow me and get the hang of it?’ So many different things. After a race he’s calling and asking if anybody needs any help or what they can do. I would definitely say that Dale Jr. was probably, if anybody deserves credit, it would probably be him.”

Now, here is a look at the odds for this coming weekend’s next NASCAR iRacing event.

NASCAR Cup Series Race at Darlington Raceway

NASCAR Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 Odds

NASCAR just finished two crash-filled weeks in Daytona, and this week the NASCAR series will be at the Atlanta Motor Speedway for the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500. Click here for live NASCAR odds.

The race is set for this Sunday, February 24th at 2:00 PM ET. You can watch the race live on FOX or stream it at Fox Sports Go.

NASCAR Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 Odds

Currently, 37 teams are entered in the race, so everyone will qualify. First practice is scheduled for Friday at 11:35 AM ET. Final qualifying runs begin later the same evening at 5:10 PM.

Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 Betting Favorites

Can Daytona 500 champion Denny Hamlin make it two in a row in his Joe Gibbs Racing No. 11 FedEx Toyota Camry? Hamlin won at Daytona as the fourth favorite at +900. In Atlanta, he opens at +1600 to win back-to-back.

The defending Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 champion Kevin Harvick is the odds-on betting favorite to win it again this year at +400. He has also finished in the top-10 in 11 of his last 14 races at the Atlanta Motor Speedway.

  • Kevin Harvick +400
  • Joey Logano/Kyle Busch +625
  • Martin Truex/Kyle Larson/Brad Keselowski +825
  • Chase Elliott +1100
  • Denny Hamlin/Clint Bowyer +1600

Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 Betting Contenders

If you are looking for more value on your Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 bets, Jimmie Johnson at +2700 is the one. Johnson has won this race four times plus he has finished no worse than fourth in five of his last nine Atlanta Motor Speedway appearances.

Also on my radar? Erik Jones at +2200 to win the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500. Last week Jones finished third at the Daytona 500 after being listed at +3300 to win.

Odds & Picks to Win Daytona 500

Odds & Picks to Win Daytona 500

The annual kick-off for the Race to the Cup begins in earnest on Sunday, Feb. 18. The best NASCAR drivers head to Daytona to battle it out in the Great American Race aka the Super Bowl of Stock Car Racing. Race favorite Brad Keselowski is looking to start the new NASCAR season on the right foot. Will Keselowski do it? Or is there a smarter Daytona 500 betting pick? Perhaps a longshot?

Odds & Picks to Win the 2018 Daytona 500

What: 2018 Dayton 500
When: Sunday, February 18, 2018
Start Time: 2:30 PM ET
Where: Daytona Beach, Florida
Stadium: Daytona International Speedway
Watch: FOX Sports
Stream: Fox Sports Go

The 2018 Daytona 500 Betting Favorite:  Brad Keselowski +800

Brad Keselowski has never won the Daytona 500. He did start seventh in last year’s Daytona 500. Unfortunately, he ended up finishing twenty-seventh. An accident led to Keselowski’s terrible finish. Although Keselowski’s start to last year’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series wasn’t auspicious, he managed to finish fourth overall.

That’s not bad at all. It sets him up for a lot of success in 2018. It might not set him up for that much success at Daytona on Feb. 18, though. He does start in tenth in Duel 1. That will give him a shot at a nice starting position on Sunday. Still, I’m not sold. I’m looking elsewhere.

The 2018 Daytona 500 Smart Bet:  Jimmie Johnson +1400

Jimmie Johnson’s last Daytona 500 win was in 2013. Since that time, he hasn’t had the best racing luck in the first NASCAR event of the year. JJ could come up big on Feb. 18, though. Let’s not forget that he’s one of the best NASCAR drivers of all time. He also finished tenth in last year’s Monster Energy Cup Series.

In 2016, Jimmie won the Monster Energy Cup Series. He’s driving as well as he ever has while even though Hendrick Motorsports has gone through some changes, he remains the anchor to the powerful NASCAR team. I like Jimmie’s odds. He starts behind Alex Bowman in Duel 1. That could lead to a nice starting position on Sunday. I think Jimmie bounces back in a huge way at the 2018 Daytona 500.

The 2018 Daytona 500 Longshot:  Kurt Busch +2500

Kurt Busch won the 2017 Daytona 500. It was Busch’s first Daytona 500 win. He could be in line for a back-to-back because his past couple of seasons with Stewart-Haas Racing has led to very good finishes at the Daytona 500.

In addition to winning the race in 2017, Busch finished tenth in 2016. He should manage to do well again in 2017. Busch is one of the most competitive drivers at NASCAR. He might just pull off the repeat Daytona 500 win.
