2018’s NFL season kicks-off on Sept 6th, 2018 and the 5Dimes team has released the odds on who AP will name as the 2018 NFL MVP.

NFL MVP Odds & Picks

5Dimes’ Oddsmakers NFL MVP Picks – Aaron Rodgers +550, Tom Brady +600

In the last decade only once has a non-QB won the top single player NFL award. That was AP in 2012 when he fell short of Eric Dickerson’s longstanding rushing record.

Tom Brady was the MVP last season while Aaron Rodgers season was shortened with a broken collarbone.

2018 NFL MVP Smart Pick – Kirk Cousins +2000

Cousins put up some pretty good numbers on an average team with average talent. What can he do with a top-tier defense, rush attack and a top trio of pass catchers?

The Minnesota Vikings paid $84 million to find out.

The Vikings were a Super Bowl season a year ago. The only thing that will slow the Vikings down in 2018 is if Cousins cracks under pressure.

2018 NFL MVP Longshot Picks – Le’Veon Bell +3000, Ezekiel Elliott +4000, Todd Gurley +4000

In the last decade, the NFL game has shifted to a pass-heavy game. Before Brady, Manning, and Rodgers the NFL had distinguished MVPs like Marshall Faulk, Shaun Alexander and LaDainian Tomlinson.

Can another running back become league MVP?

The trio of Bell, Elliott, and Gurley are this season’s best bets to win MVP.

If Bell delays reporting to the team due to contract issues again, he will need anywhere from 2-4 weeks to reach game shape. He will need a miracle final three-quarters of the season to stay in the MVP conversation.

Elliott missed six games last season due to suspension. That put the Cowboys in a whole they couldn’t dig out of in 2017. He will seek redemption and nothing says sorry like an MVP award.

Gurley is the toughest pick out of the top three prospective rushers. He is on a team loaded with talent and will have to blow the roof off every time he gets the ball to separate himself from teammates like Jared Goff, Brandin Cooks & Cooper Kupp. That’s without having to worry about defensive talents like Aaron Donald, Aqib Talib, and Ndamukong Suh.
