Why The Chargers Will Win

The Chargers offense has put up 69-points in the first two weeks of NFL action. Melvin Gordon’s three touchdown performance this past week sealed the 31-20 win over the lowly Bills. Since 2016, his total 27 TDs is second in the NFL only his crosstown rival Todd Gurley who plays for the Rams. Gordon also leads the Chargers in receptions with 15 for 140 yards and two scores.

Last week quarterback Philip Rivers finished 23 of 27 for 256 yards and three touchdowns. He has Keenan Allen, Antonio Gates and former Clemson star Mike Williams catching balls. The later caught his first NFL TD 5 1/2 minutes into the game last week.

Why The Rams Will Win

The Rams are 2-0 outscoring opponents 67-13 including shutting out Arizona in Week 2. Gurley rushed for 42 yards and three touchdowns in 19 carries in that victory. He also scored on two 2-point conversions. Jared Goff threw for 354 yards and a touchdown. Former Saint and Patriot Brandin Cooks had seven receptions for 159 yards.

This is the first time Los Angeles has won its first two games of the season since 2001. The Rams started 6-0 en route to the third Super Bowl appearance in franchise history that year.

Chargers vs Rams Predictions

The Rams have scored 57 unanswered points over their past six quarters. They last trailed 13-10 against Oakland in their season opener. I don’t see the Chargers slowing down their crosstown rival without Joey Bosa.

Both teams are averaging 30+ points per game so far this season. Am I the only one wondering why the total is only 48.5?
