Must Bet Games NFL Week 16

Ravens (8-6) at Chargers (11-3)
Saturday, December 22nd, 8:20 PM, NFL Network
Opening line: Chargers -4½

The Baltimore Ravens travel west to face the Los Angeles Chargers. Under head coach John Harbaugh, the Ravens are 4-4 straight-up and 3-5 against the spread in games played in the Pacific Time Zone. Will rookie QB Lamar Jackson change the Ravens’ fortunes? Since he took over as the starter, Baltimore is 4-1 SU and 3-2 ATS. The lone loss was the Chiefs. The Chargers are a hot team to bet on. Los Angeles is 9-1 SU and 7-3 ATS since Week 5. Plus the Bolts are 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 primetime games.

Bengals (6-8) at Browns (6-7-1)
Sunday, December 23rd, 1 PM, CBS
Opening line: Browns -7

There is nothing like an AFC North battle in late December with possible playoff implications. And we aren’t talking about the Steelers and Ravens. The visiting Cincinnati Bengals are banged up and spiraling with two wins over nine weeks. But the good news is that the Bengals are 7-1 SU and ATS in past eight games against Cleveland. That lone loss was to these same Browns in Week 11 earlier this year. Cleveland is suddenly a hot bet going 4-1 SU and ATS in their last five outings. Baker Mayfield has everyone believing in Cleveland. Including me and NFL oddsmakers who have the Browns as a 7-point favorite. When was the last time Cleveland was favored by a touchdown?

Bills (5-9) at Patriots (9-5)
Sunday, December 23rd, 1 PM, CBS
Opening line: Patriots -12½

Lookout but the Buffalo Bills are suddenly exciting to watch for more than the antics of the Bills Mafia. And in Week 16 Buffalo can play spoiler against Tom, Bill, and the Patriots. Since 2010, New England is 23-2 SU and 15-9-1 ATS at Foxboro against fellow AFC opponents. Surprise, surprise both of those losses were at the hands of the Bills.

Packers (5-8-1) at Jets (4-10)
Sunday, December 23rd, 1 PM, Fox
Opening line: Packers -3

The opening betting spread shocks me for two reasons. An Aaron Rodgers led Packers team is only a 3-point favorite in December against a team led by a rookie QB. And why is a team who is winless on the road a 3-point favorite? Not only are the Packers 0-7 straight-up but they’re also just 1-5-1 ATS on the road this season. Dating back to last season, the Packers have actually lost nine straight road games (2-6-1 ATS).

Texans (10-4) at Eagles (7-7)
Sunday, December 23rd, 1 PM, CBS
Opening line: Texans -1

Since joining the NFL, the Houston Texans are 0-4 SU and 1-3 ATS versus the Philadelphia Eagles. But this is a red-hot Texans team that is 10-1 SU over its last 11. Overall this season, Houston is 6-7-1 ATS. The Eagles are 5-9 ATS overall and 2-5 ATS at home this season. However recently against AFC teams, Philly 6-0 SU and 4-2 ATS at home.

Chiefs (11-3) at Seahawks (8-6)
Sunday, December 23rd, 8:20 PM, NBC
Opening line: Chiefs -3

The Kansas City Chiefs are 8-5-1 ATS this season. On the road that mark is a red-hot 5-1-1. But this week the Chiefs are in Seattle to face the 12th man where the Seahawks are 4-1-1 ATS. Moreover, since 2010, Pete Carroll’s Seahawks are a stunning 16-2 SU and 14-3-1 ATS in primetime home games.
