2020 Belmont Stakes Odds & Analysis

2020 Belmont Stakes Odds

The Belmont Stakes, traditionally the third and final event in the famed Triple Crown, will be the first leg to take place in 2020 as thoroughbred horse racing continues to move further into its now, revamped post coronavirus schedule. Click here for updated Belmont Stakes odds.

While the Belmont Stakes has also been the longest race of the three events, (Kentucky Derby, Preakness), this year, the Belmont Stakes has been shortened from its normal 1½ miles to 1/8 miles in order to deal with potential stamina and fatigue issues.

Now, with the 2020 Belmont Stakes set for June 20, let’s take a look at the latest odds to win. The legendary Kentucky Derby is set to be run on September 5 with the Preakness Stakes scheduled for October 3.

Belmont Stakes 2020 Odds

Tiz The Law +300

It’s two up and two down for the prohibitive favorite in 2020 after he brought home the bacon at the Holy Bull Stakes in February and the spectatorless Curlin Florida Derby in March.

Charlatan +350

Charlatan might not be the prohibitive favorite, but the Bob Baffert trained thoroughbred has one-upped Tiz The Law by going 3-for-3 in 2020. Charlatan won consecutive races at Santa Anita in February and March before ending up in the winner’s circle on May 2 at the Arkansas Derby.

Nadal +350

In keeping with the theme of Bob Baffert mounts that are upstaging the prohibitive favorite, Nadal has gone a perfect 4-for-4 in 2020 while winning one of two races for 3-year-olds at the Arkansas Derby.

Maxfield +1000

Maxfield has only taken to the track once in 2020, but he did manage to pull out a win at this past weekend’s Matt Winn Stakes at the famed Churchill Downs, no less.

Mischievous Alex +1800

This three-year-old has gone an unblemished 2-for2 in 2020 by winning the Swale Stakes in February and the Gotham Stakes at Aqueduct in March.

Dr Post +1800

Well, Dr. Post is the sixth consecutive Belmont Stakes hopeful that has yet to lose in 2020. This challenger has gone 2-for-2 in 2020 and surged from fifth at the 3/4 pole in April to win the Unbridled Stakes by 1½ lengths.

Honor A.P +1800

Honor A.P. finished second in the San Felipe Stakes in March, following a win his last race as a 2-year-old in October of 2019.

Sole Volante +2000

After finishing third at the Mucho Macho Man Stakes in January, Sole Volante finished first at the Sam. F. Davis Stakes in February while finishing second in the Lambholm South Florida Derby in March.

Farmington Road +2500

After kicking off 2020 with a win in Tampa Bay in February, Farmington Road has finished fourth in two races and second in another and comes into the Belmont Stakes off of one of those uninspiring fourth place finishes in Arkansas.

Max Player +2500

Max Player has only appeared in one race this year, but he did manage to find his way into the winner’s circle by winning the Withers Stakes in February.

Wells Bayou +2500

After winning two of his first three races in 2020, Wells Bayou took a huge step backwards by finishing fifth in the Arkansas Derby at the start of May.

Gouverneur Morris +2500

A win in Tampa Bay in his season-opening race in February, this long shot challenger finished fourth at the Curlin Derby and third in the Arkansas Derby.

Modernist +2500

After finishing first at Aqueduct in January and first in the Risen Star event in February, Modernist finished third at the Twinspires Louisiana Derby in March.

Basin +3000

Basin has been in contention in three races this year, but he hasn’t been able to get it done while finishing third in the Rebel Stakes in March, fourth in the Oaklawn Stakes in April and second in one of two races at the Arkansas Derby.
